D’Amico Catering announced the “opening kickoff” of its newly renovated Market House by D’Amico café in the Minnesota History Center – just in time for the museum’s new Gridiron Glory: The Best of the Pro Football Hall of Fame exhibit opening Sept. 24. Located in the former Café Minnesota space near the museum’s entrance, the newly renovated café features updated décor and furnishings, plus a reinvigorated menu highlighting fresh, local and healthy cuisine. In the spirit of celebrating state history and the café’s culinary theme, the Market House name is a homage to the original St. Paul farmers’ market venue that opened in 1853.
“Market House by D’Amico pays tribute to our Minnesota and community roots by offering fresh, authentic and healthy cuisine sourced from our favorite local and organic purveyors,” said Larry D’Amico, co-owner of D’Amico & Partners. “The Market House experience connects Minnesota History Center visitors to Minnesota’s past and present agricultural movement with a menu inspired by the local farmers market, as well as the grainery, butcher and bakery. We are proud to partner with the Minnesota Historical Society to help build the Minnesota History Center as a premier Twin Cities attraction and event venue.”
“The D’Amico name is widely recognized in the Twin Cities and it’s synonymous with great food, exceptional style and impeccable service,” said Dennis Meissner, interim deputy director, programs and head of collections management. “The name will help to attract more attention to the café, the attractive menu will draw guests in, and the excellent food and service will keep them coming back. We are excited to offer this wonderful amenity for our guests to enhance their overall Minnesota History Center experience.”
D’Amico Catering assumed operations of the former Café Minnesota in February and began working to plan the new menu and space renovation, which will debut Sept. 20. The Market House by D’Amico menu features seasonal salads, artisan sandwiches, flatbreads, burgers, soups and desserts. Special menu items also will be offered to coordinate with the museum’s featured exhibits, such as the Gridiron Burger featuring two patties, cheese, caramelized onions, bacon and a pretzel bun. Guests place their orders at the counter and they are given a number so their orders can be delivered to their table. As part of the renovation, the counter was redesigned to provide a more efficient and seamless dining experience.
Market House by D’Amico is conveniently located near the Minnesota History Center’s museum stores, which also makes it a great option for visitors who want to stop in simply to grab a quick bite and shop for Minnesota-themed gifts and merchandise, no museum entrance fee required. Employees from local hospitals and other nearby businesses and organizations also can easily stop in to dine.
Meissner also noted that D’Amico Catering has been doing impressive work since February with the weddings and events that take place in the museum’s event spaces, and working to attract clients from across the metro area to the beautiful event spaces with spectacular views of the State Capitol and more.
