Groundhog Day Chili Cook Off
On Thursday, February 2 FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar Minneapolis Downtown’s team will face off in the restaurant’s annual Chili Cook Off. The staff will dish out their best pots of chili to diners for the chance to be named the FireLake Chili Champion. This free event offers guests a tasting of each chili, and their chance to weigh in on the Chili Cook Off winner. Guests are invited to stop by the FireLake Cocktail Bar from 5-7 p.m. and also sip on $3 tap beer while indulging in a variety of chili.
Gourmet Hot Cocoa Pop Up Bar
On Friday, February 3, 10, and 24, Radisson Blu Minneapolis Downtown and FireLake invite the whole family to escape the Minnesota cold and warm up at the hotel’s first Gourmet Hot Cocoa Pop-Up Bar. From 4-6 p.m. on each of the designated Fridays, the hotel lobby will be a winter haven boasting three special gourmet hot chocolate drinks inspired by truffles from partner St. Croix Chocolate Company, who will be onsite on February 3. The hot chocolate menu includes The Mamacita, with layered chocolate, three types of chili, vanilla, cinnamon, and dulce de leche caramel, The St. Croix Creamy, with chocolate ganache and gianduja, and The Icy Mint, with bright peppermint and dark chocolate. These non-alcoholic hot cocoas are complimentary for guests and locals. Hot cocoa cocktails will be available in FireLake for the entire month of February, where The Mamacita becomes an adult cocktail, made with Fireball, Absolut Vanilla, Absolut Peppar, Godiva Chocolate, and caramel with a cocoa/chipotle powder rim and The St. Croix Creamy gets souped-up with Frangelico, hazelnut syrup and Godiva Chocolate, and The Icy Mint gets adorned with Rumple Minze and Frangelico.
Galentine’s Day Wine & Canvas Dinner
On February 13, FireLake Minneapolis Downtown offers an alternative to Valentine’s Day with a Galentine’s Day Wine & Canvas event in their private dining room from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Guests are invited to bring friends, family or special loved ones in for a night of fun painting Wine & Canvas’ custom design, Reaching Branches, with a special menu available including King Crab and Shrimp Fondue, Chicken and Goat Cheese Pizza, half-priced wine by the bottle and fabulous cocktails, and festive gift bags. As Restaurant Week approaches, FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar Mall of America unveils its multi-course menus available for both lunch and dinner February 19-24. For $15, guests can enjoy a three-course lunch, which includes a soup or salad, choice of a petite sandwich including FireLake Reuben or Popover Prime Rib Dip, and a homemade snickerdoodle cookie to complete the meal with a sweet treat. On Thursday, February 23, FireLake Mall of America hosts Waconia, Minnesota based J. Carver Distillery for a one-night only reception showcasing the best of Minnesota cuisine paired with J. Carver cocktails. J. Carver Distillery creates artisanal craft spirits made with the highest quality ingredients that are sourced locally and domestically, while the copper stills used are from Germany’s oldest fabricator mixing the old-world tradition with local ingredients to create superb spirits. Executive Chef Dinesh Jayawardena offers a pairing menu including Herb Crusted Pork Loin with Mushroom Fava Bean Risotto and a Star Anise Coriander Honey Glaze, which pairs with the J. The menu from Executive Chef Dinesh Jayawardena, FireLake Mall of America, features a Frisée Marche Salad, Surf & Turf with Port Braised Snake River Farm Beef Coulotte, and finishes with a Classic Chocolate Fondant.
